Today was the first day I EVER got a completely free flight! And not just any flight – an international flight!
This is my travel blogger dream!
Heck, this is my inner bargain shopper girl’s dream!
And the best part is, it was the easiest thing to do ever! I’m about to spill the tea on one of the
most epic travel hacks there is!
CAPITAL ONE VENTURE CARD
Okay, I’m sure you have heard plenty of times about rewards cards…. But do you have one
yet?!
For me, it always sounded a bit too good to be true or a bit of a “long game” cycle if you know
what I mean?
But now that I have one, I’m so mad that I didn’t sign up sooner!
I personally use my credit card as a debit card. I NEVER spend money I don’t have, so the
amount I spend on my Capital One Venture card is more limited, which is why it took me a bit longer to accumulate points. How much you spend per month will determine how quickly you build up your points.
I pay some of my monthly bills with it (the ones that allow rewards cards), and then I pretty
much use it for every single thing I buy. I have it connected to my Uber Eats and Uber account, I
use it to buy groceries, coffee, petrol, lunch, flights, technology, books, hotels and (you’re not
going to believe this but) I actually even pay other peoples’ bills sometimes and just have them
Venmo me money.
I do all this so I can get as many points as possible!
Now, what is really awesome about the Capital One Venture Card is that the rewards points can be used to buy things directly from companies, and the amount of companies you can buy from is huge!
When I first reached like 20,000 points I wanted to redeem them for AirPods so badly! But I made a promise to myself I wouldn’t spend a point until I could redeem it for an international flight – and I did just that (and had some points leftover – win!)
You have the option to buy a flight through Capital One directly, or you can search and find a flight through any site you want. The way that works is:
You pay with your Capital One card
Once it has processed, you can turn your rewards points into miles
You click “redeem” which uses your points (which are now miles) to pay for the flight
Capital One gives you a refund on your flight
Oh and the best part is if you spend $3,000 within the first 3 months after you open your account you will get 2 points for every dollar spent PLUS a bonus of 50,000 Venture miles!
It really is so amazing!
By the way, I do want to mention that this is a totally biased review because I haven’t personally tried all reward cards. I also heard the Sapphire Chase card is a huge win as well.
I highly suggest you take some time to find a card that best fits your lifestyle! My main point here is to show you a way that, with using a rewards card and just living and paying for life, over time you can save up points and get yourself an international flight too!
I hope you found this story/tip helpful and that it inspires you to travel somewhere epic! Let the
adventure continue x
